One of them (it might have been Kelly Cass, but I'm not sure) gave a value on the air a week or two ago without mentioning that it represented a percentage chance of severe weather within 50 miles of a location. So it is easier for a viewer to jump to the conclusion that there will be a 40% chance of tornadoes in Wichita or wherever today. I didn't mean to suggest that Greg Forbes isn't an expert. I claim only that the TOR:CON is alarmist humbug in the way it is used by the Weather Channel. Thank you for the comment. If there is a high torcon index, the weather has a chance of turning ugly. Greg Forbes is a true expert in severe weather. So how can he drill down all of that information to alert people they need to pay attention to certain areas. Severe weather potential usually covers wise swaths of the country, especially in the spring. Greg Forbes simply says within these areas, not all potential risks are equal. It is good to hear from you again. I ho...Hi, Lesli! It is good to hear from you again. I hope all is well with you.

On what is your hunch based? I would be cautious. Nate Silver is forecasting an Obama win (http://fivethirtyeight.blogs.nytimes.com/), and his forecasting was very accurate in 2008. I'm also hearing that, while the national polls are roughly neck-and-neck, Obama is doing well in battleground states (http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/236641-poll-obama-maintains-slight-lead-in-swing-states). But the economic recovery appears to be slowing, and Obama and the Democrats have a history of ineffective messaging (though they're campaigning more like Republicans this time around). And all kinds of things can happen between now and election day. So I think it's too early to tell who will win.

I can't stop myself from following politics, and it doesn't help that I live in the vicinity of a battleground state and see political ads every time I turn the television on. It's just that time is so precious now and there's so little of it to spend on this blog. I'd rather spend it with my precious daughter anyway!

Stay in touch.Φhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03793923196182331129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1230105326154789140.post-87608868635071574692012-07-26T21:54:48.949-05:002012-07-26T21:54:48.949-05:00Back up and running. For a while now I've considered the Republican Party to be a freakish coalition of political enemies, created by Nixon to win an election. You have your racists, your anti-abortion fundamentalists, your sociopathic capitalists, your libertarians, your soldiers, and your patriots. Here is a clash between patriot Buckley and capitalist Romney. No one should be surprised by Romney's past. American capitalism encourages the sociopathic pursuit of profit above all else, so it's no wonder that Romney put profit before country.
